What is sub structure and super structure ?
Sub Structure
The lower part from the plinth
of the building is known as sub structure
Super Structure
The upper part from the plinth of the building is known as the super structure

What are types of Slump ?
True slump
The concrete mass after the test when slump evenly all around without disintegration is known as true slump
Collapse Slump
When the sample is collapse due to adding excessive water.
Shear Slump
When one half of the concrete mass slide down the other is shear slump it is used in lean concrete mix.
Zero Slump
For very stiff or dry mixes it does not show any changes of the slump after removing slump cone.
What is checklist of column before concreting it ?
The checklist of columns before concreting is following
- Layout ( check the exact location of columns and also check the center to center distance between them)
- Steel ( check the number of bars, their dia and also check the overlap of the bars in column)
- Ring spacing and the alignment of the columns
- Cover block
- Form work or shuttering
- Plumbing
- Supports pf columns
What is compressive strength of the brick ?
The compressive strength of the bricks of different classification are different.
- First class bricks = 105 kg/cm²
- Second class bricks = 70 kg/cm²
- Fire bricks = 125 kg/cm²
What is size of cover block ?
The size of cover block is vary in different structure.
Slab = 20 mm
Column = 40 mm
Beam = 25 mm
Footing = 50 mm to 75 mm
How can we find the quantity of columns ?
The quantity of column = length x width x height
as same as the formula of volume and then multiply it with the numbers of column.
Who can you test the cement at site ?
- Color test ( the color of the cement should be uniform it may be grey or light greenish.)
- Date of manufacturing or packing ( The cement should be use before 90 days from the date of manufacturing).
- Floating test ( If the small quantity of cement is thrown in water the particles should be float on water for sometime before it sink.
- Rubbing ( the cement should feel smooth when its touch or rubbed in finger.
- Hand insertion ( when hand in insert in the bad of cement it should be cool not warm.
What are the tests of concrete ?

What is the normal temperature of concrete ?
The normal temperature of concrete is between 18 to 32 degree centigrade.
What is slope in stair case ?
According to the IS 15456,2000 it should be between 25 to 40 degree.
What is unit weight of concrete ?
The unit weight of concrete is depend upon the nature of aggregate, sand and amount of voids but according the IS 456 200 the unit weight of PCC is 24 KN cub m and weight of RCC is 25 KN per cubic meter.
When we go for Pile Foundation ?
We can go for pile foundation if the bearing capacity of soil is less than 24 KN per cubic meter.
What is One way and Two way slab ?
If the ratio of longer span is greater than the shorter span than it is one way slab and if the ratio of longer span is smaller than 2 then it will consider as two way slab.
How much lapping length is use in different zones ?
In tension zone the lapping length is 50 D to 60 D and in compression zone it will become 24 D where D is the diameter of bars.
What are types of blocks ?
The blocks which is use in the uttermost wall is ACC block which is usually use for partition and it helps to control temperature. The other types of block is concrete block which is in solid and hollow form. Solid form of block is used in super structure and the hollow kind of block is use in underground or in sub structure like in manholes.
What is Geniting and also describe its purpose ?
It is process in which mixture of cement and sand in proportion of 1:3 on concrete surface with the help of cement gun under pressure. Pressure value is 2 to 3 Kg per cubic cm . It is highly effective process for repairing concrete.
What are types of Cement ?
There are various types of cement such as
- Ordinary Portland Cement ( OPC)
- White Portland Cement ( WPC)
- Low Heat Portland Cement
- Portland Pozzolana Cement ( PPC) etc etc.
